2. Verify that you have the Microsoft.net framework version 2.0 installed. Click here, Check for MS.NET, for step-by-step instructions.
3. Click here, Spider files, to download the program. When prompted to Run or Save the file, select Save, and place the file on your desktop.
4. Locate the Spider3.msi file on your desktop. Double click the file and choose Run. Follow the onscreen instructions to install the software and when finished, click Finish.
To Scan with Spider
1. Right click on the link below and choose Save Target As, and save it to your desktop.
2. Load the Configuration file. Go to Start, All Programs, Spider_3.0 exe and open Spider.
- Go to File, Load XML Config, and choose the Configuration file you just downloaded to your desktop, then choose OK.. Set the directory to scan the My Documents Folder. Note, when using this configuration file, an Incremental Scanning option is used. Therefore, if you scan your files again, only new or updated files will be scanned.
- When the upload is complete you will see the following screen shot. Click OK.
- Go to Configure, Settings and click on the Scan Options Tab. Click on Start Directory and point to your My Documents (for XP users) or Documents (for Vista users) folder. If you could like to scan your entire hard drive leave it as c:\. Click Save.
- When asked to Close config window, choose Yes.
3. Click Run Spider. When prompted enter a 16 character passphrase. Be sure to remember this passphrase as you will use it later to view the log file.
4. When the Spider scan is complete (this will take some time) select File, View Log, and enter your passphrase. You will now examine the findings and take the appropriate actions.
5. Once clean-up of the data is completed, securely delete the spider.log file by moving it to the Recycle Bin. Be sure to empty the Recycle Bin.
