Spider Engine for Linux
Download the Spider Engine for Linux
Once downloaded, use the tar xvzf command to extract the contents to /usr/local/cornell/spider and run
- /usr/local/cornell/spider/spider_server.pl.
Use the instructions located on the Cornell web site to save a log file and to use the default regular expressions provided in order to search for Social Security Numbers and credit card numbers.
- Run /usr/local/cornell/spider/spider-4.0.pl -D /mount_path to begin the scanning process
When the Spider scan is complete, use a text viewer to view the contents of the Spider log file.
Once cleanup of the data is complete securely delete the spider.log file by using the shred command or an equivalent for:
- shred -fuz <file-to-be-deleted>
