Note: Tests by both Microsoft and our UConn technicians have surfaced problems with appointments (both single and recurring meetings) during the weeks of March 11 through April 2, 2007. There are issues when making appointments if one person has patched their PC and another has not. Given this inconsistency, we recommend that if you rely heavily upon your Exchange Outlook calendar that you take some precautionary steps:
- In the Subject of your appointments place the time (Example: 10AM, Team Meeting)
- Print out your calendar of appointments and double check with those who you are scheduled to meet
- Do the same, Subject and Print, for any public folder calendars your department may use
- If you use a Blackberry, double check with your Outlook calendar and also with those you are to meet
General Information about Daylight Saving changes
Starting in the spring of 2007, Daylight Saving Time (DST) start and end dates for the United States will transition to comply with the Energy Policy Act of 2005. DST dates in the United States will start three weeks earlier (2:00 A.M. on March 11, 2007) and will end one week later (2:00 A.M. on November 4, 2007). For further details go to http://webexhibits.org/daylightsaving/b.html.
Microsoft and Apple will be producing updates for products affected by the new United States daylight saving time transition dates. See related pages above for further details.
How will this impact UConn personal computers and laptops?
This will effect both Windows and Macintosh based computers and laptops as well as calendar based e-mail (Microsoft Outlook and Entourage).
